Clamp Light Artist Studios & Gallery is excited to announce, Heroes are less Heroic, new works by by J. Eric Simpson. The exhibition will be open through May 8th–31th, with an opening reception May 8th from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. in conjunction with Second Friday.
Heroes are less Heroic aims to rethink notions that shaped the boyhood and early adult life of the artist. In this exhibition, the white picket fence of the American Dream no longer represents the security and sanctity it once did; the sacred ritual of Christian communion is compared with the fetishized behavior of contemporary zombie culture; and the expectations of a childhood hero are confronted with a less heroic reality.
Heroes are less Heroic asks us to rethink social structures in order to address deeply-rooted influences that often shape our understanding of the world around us.
A reception for the artist will be held Friday, May. 8th, 2015, 7-10 pm. The exhibition will be on view May 8–31, 2015, by appointment only.
